OUR FOUNDERS
We founded Cortado with one goal: to help young people like ourselves experience the world.
Yet the first step towards achieving that goal is often overlooked: finding housing. Whether traveling to Washington, DC for an internship or leaving our home countries to study abroad, students always need a safe, community-centered place to call home amidst unfamiliar surroundings.
Unfortunately, the housing needs of traveling students rarely match the traditional rental market. We’ve experienced this firsthand in our travels; dodging scams and searching in vain for medium-term, fully-furnished student housing that won’t break the bank! Without the credit scores, guarantors and proof of income required by traditional landlords, many young people are left between overpriced vacation rentals or sketchy Craigslist sublets.
This is where Cortado steps in, providing medium-term student & intern housing in Washington, DC and beyond. Since opening our first student & intern housing in DC, Cortado has already hosted students from Germany, China, Cyprus, India and nearly thirty US states. We could not be more thrilled with the young guests that join us every semester, and hope to count you among them soon!
