Pricing & Payments

Utilities & WiFi are not included in the base Accommodation Fee* listed on our site. Cortado will charge a portion of the utility bill to your account each month based on the total number of bedrooms at the location.
For example, if there are four bedrooms at the property, you will always pay one-fourth of the monthly utility & WiFi bill, whether or not the other rooms are occupied (e.g. if the monthly utility bill were $100, you would pay $25).
*The exception to this is Cortado East Capitol, for which our pricing includes utilities and WiFi.

Nope and nope! Security deposits and guarantors are not required when booking with Cortado.
-
The final price of your room will be determined by your room’s nightly rate multiplied by the number of nights in your stay, plus any cleaning fees and the one-time Booking Fee due at time of booking.
All utility pricing will be calculated based on usage and billed monthly to your account.
Please note that any stays of fewer than 90 nights are subject to DC’s Transient Lodging Tax.
-
It is important to note that per DC law, all stays of 90 days or fewer are subject to an exclusive tax of 15.95%. This tax will be automatically added to your reservation at check-out, and will be reflected under the “Total Taxes” line on your invoice.
As a result of this tax, guests can often save considerable money by booking for 90+ nights.

Fall & Spring - You will pay first & last month’s Accommodation Fees + the one-time booking fee at time of booking. All remaining Accommodation Fees & utilities are paid monthly.
Summer - Due to high demand and the shorter length of stay, all summer bookings must be paid in-full at time of booking to complete the reservation. All utilities will be charged separately on a monthly basis.
-
30+ days out - If you cancel your reservation at least 30 days ahead of move-in, Cortado will refund your full payment minus the one-time Booking Fee.
Less than 30 days - If you cancel within 30 days, Cortado will refund your full payment minus one month’s Accommodation Fees and the one-time Booking Fee.

Great question! The one-time Booking Fee helps us pay Cortado staff a living wage and make regular improvements to the units like replacing worn-out furniture, upgrading appliances and installing state-of-the-art smarthome technology.
